Why I'm excited about it


I'm not even sure about the plot of this one. I just want the cover...I love it. Why? Because in Doctor Who there is a race (The Silence) who you forget you have seen the second you stop looking at them...so you have to tally your body and the faces of those next to you to keep track of how many times you've seen them:




It is brilliant and terrifying and my love for the concept has made me believe this book will be the same. IS IT A TRAP!?

What it's about... 
Living in the aftermath of the Event means that seeing the dead is now a part of life, but Veronica wishes that the ghosts would just move on. Instead, the ghosts aren’t disappearing—they’re gaining power.

When Veronica and her friend, Kirk, decide to investigate why, they stumble upon a more sinister plot than they ever could have imagined. One of Veronica’s high school teachers is crippled by the fact that his dead daughter has never returned as a ghost, and he’s haunted by the possibility that she’s waiting to reappear within a fresh body. Veronica seems like the perfect host. And even if he’s wrong, what’s the harm in creating one more ghost?

  1. Oooo... I hadn't heard of this one before! I actually have never read any of Waters' previous novels, but I think I'll have to give this one a chance. The title alone... jeez!

  2. This one is completely new to me! And it sounds amazing! Sadly, I never really got the chance to watch Doctor Who, but I can understand how this would remind you of that. It's so creepy writing on you to remind yourself of that!

  10. Oh wow, I love Doctor Who so I probably would have brought that book for the cover to! The Silence are so creepy (I love that episode).

    Honestly, not what I expected it to be about from the title, somehow it doesn't seem to link in, but maybe that's just me. Sounds pretty interesting though, so will keep an eye out for it later this year!

  15. Hahaha, I LOVE that this cover grabbed you for the same reason it did me! I totes went as Amy for Halloween this past year, complete with hash marks all over. The Silence are one of the greatest villains EVER (though I'm more terrified of Weeping Angels personally).

Funny story - I thought Shiver was just okay, so I had no interest in The Scorpio Races when that came out. Then I won a copy of SR, so I read it and it completely blew me away. Such an excellent read!
